You have been in the software engineering industry for many years now. Could you share a bit about your background and experience?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Hello Mario, certainly!
I started programming during high school, around the year 2000. Since an early age, I always had a fascination for computers and technology, especially for creating computer games. The idea of making things work and solving puzzles intrigued me then as today.\u00a0

<\/span>My first professional experience involved developing a system using Microsoft Access. It was a small-scale project for managing suppliers, customers, orders, and generating reports. After that, I worked in different companies, mostly focusing on Microsoft technologies such as VB6, early versions of .NET, and C#. I also worked as a business analyst but found myself more interested in hands-on software development. Staying updated with new technologies and frameworks has been a significant part of my career.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t

Actually, I studied from 2003 to 2007 and graduated with a degree in Information Systems. I attended a well-known private university in Minas Gerais, Brazil. They offered benefits to students with low income, which made it affordable for me since I was already working as a developer. The program I enrolled in focused more on practical aspects, with a 25% theoretical and 75% practical approach, unlike computer science, which had a 50-50 balance between theory and research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I also pursued an MBA in project management, although I didn’t feel it was directly applicable to my work at that time.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t

AS SOMEONE WHO HAS WITNESSED\u00a0THE INDUSTRY CHANGE AND\u00a0GROW<\/span>, WHAT DRIVES YOU TO CONTINUE DEVELOPING YOUR SKILLS AND ADVANCING IN YOUR CAREER?\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

My primary focus has always been on technology, but I also consider myself a people person. I have worked closely with developers, sometimes taking on leadership roles. However, I\u00a0<\/span>don’t<\/span>\u00a0see leadership as a hierarchical position but rather as collaborating with others and helping them reach their full potential. I believe in sharing knowledge and empowering others, regardless of their level, as it\u00a0<\/span>benefits<\/span>\u00a0everyone\u00a0<\/span>in the long run<\/span>. I find motivation in exploring new things and understanding the reasons behind the change. <\/span>I believe that every new framework or technology<\/span>\u00a0emerges<\/span> for a reason, and by staying updated, I can uncover the advantages they offer. As for the future, I see myself as a software architect, appreciating the technical aspects and the entire view of projects.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How has your experience been working in the Netherlands? Have you noticed any differences compared to other countries?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0
<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>My experience in the Netherlands has been <\/span>really positive<\/span>, particularly <\/span>regarding<\/span> the work environment. <\/span>I believe things<\/span> are changing globally, but the Netherlands for sure promotes a more global outlook. This leads to greater respect and openness to different perspectives. In Brazil, there was a tendency to make jokes that were sometimes disrespectful in the workplace. In the Netherlands, such behavior is not acceptable, and people are more respectful and professional.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\r\n\t\t<\/section>\r\n\t\t\t\t

Can you share some insights about your current project?<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>

Currently, I’m working on a benchmarking project at Rabobank. We are exploring the trends and productivity of crops like corn and soybean. This project involves utilizing Azure technologies, such as Azure Data Lake and Angular for front-end development. I’m excited about the challenge and the opportunity to contribute to the team effort.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Furthermore, this project is a great learning experience for me, particularly in terms of Azure technologies and DevOps practices. As everything is moving to the cloud, gaining proficiency in these areas will undoubtedly enhance my skill set as a software engineer and future architect. I would suggest building a GitHub portfolio with examples of your own code. This portfolio will impress potential employers and demonstrate your capabilities. Additionally, consider pursuing certifications not just for the sake of certification but to challenge yourself and validate your expertise. Creating a strong GitHub profile and gaining certifications can significantly increase your chances of securing future job opportunities!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
